The Alexanders are long time members of the Bull Terrier Club of America, Golden State BTC, Barbary Coast BTC, Monterey Bay BTC, American Dog Show Judges, Senior Conformation Judges of America, Gavilan Kennel Club, Del Monte Kennel Club, & ADOA. David has served as BTCA Treasurer and Genetics Chair for the BTCA Welfare Foundation. Both are also active members of the Northern California Terrier Association and Carolyn has been on the NCTA Board since 1998. Carolyn is the Bull Terrier columnist for the AKC Gazette, Newsletter Editor for MBBTC, and Rescue Chair for MBBTC. In 2016 David was elected to the Animal Control Board for Monterey County. The Alexanders are also long time volunteers and advocates for the Monterey County SPCA, and are life members of the SPCA Auxiliary.

Carolyn and David are AKC Judges. Carolyn judges some Non-Sporting breeds, the Terrier, Working and Toy Groups, Juniors, and BIS. David judges some Herding Breeds, the Terrier and Non-Sporting Groups, and BIS. They have judged throughout the United States, in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, England, Finland, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. They have judged several times in France, including the French National outside Paris.
Both have judged Bull Terrier specialties throughout these countries, while David has twice judged Silverwood in the USA, first in 2002, and more recently in 2011.
In 2013, David judged at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club show in New York.
